The cycling culture of the Pyrenees

Since 1910, the Tour de France has seen some of its finest hours in the Pyrenees, which have a reputation for hair-raising cols. From the Col du Tourmalet to the Plateau de Beille, a whole cycling culture has taken root. This can be seen in the warm reception that cyclists get, the celebrations and local races that have a big reputation in cycling circles, the facilities at cols and other initiatives.
