This agricultural and artisanal village, which nestles in a valley in the Pyrenean Piedmont, is organised around the old medieval motte. You can still see the 12th
century dungeon, a large part of the ramparts and the remains of a primitive church. The Episcopal castle was the former residence of the Bishops of Couserans. The village is thought to date back to 1195. It was already part of
the territory of the Bishops of Saint Lizier, and the Bishops’ Palace is just 16 km away. During your visit, you will appreciate the richness of the site – the esplanade (bishops’ promenade), the ramparts, Saint Barbe chapel (private), the 17th century bishops’ castle, the church, the bell tower (dungeon) and the old corps de logis (main block).
