The Basilica of Saint Sernin in Toulouse, the Cathedral of Sainte Cécile in Albi, the Church of Saint Jacques in Montauban…: the bell towers of Midi-Pyrénées, sometimes campaniles, wall belfries and fortified towers, built of pink brick or golden tufa limestone, tell the story of a region where Romanesque art reached its zenith and Gothic art was reinvented Toulouse-style.
